More than a month has passed since the conclusion of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), yet discussions around player payments and team rewards continue to make headlines. Concerns over delayed salaries had previously plagued several franchises, but as of this month, all teams except Dhaka Capitals have settled outstanding payments with their players.
Following the resolution of these issues, both the champions and runners-up received their prize money. The Rajshahi Warriors, crowned champions of the season, went a step further by presenting all of their domestic cricketers with the latest model iPhones as a token of appreciation for their performances.
On 15 June, 15 players and 10 members of the coaching staff were gifted iPhone 17 Pro Max devices. The team’s management expressed delight at fulfilling their promise to reward the squad, emphasising the morale-boosting impact of the gesture. Players such as Jisan Alam, Ripon Mondal, and Wasi Siddiqui received their gifts with smiles, highlighting the positive atmosphere in the team ahead of the upcoming Eid celebrations.
In addition to these luxury gifts, the Rajshahi Warriors’ prize money amounted to ৳2.75 crore, while runners-up Chattogram Royals secured ৳1.75 crore. Despite the disbursement of funds across most teams, players from the Dhaka Capitals have yet to receive their full remuneration, with no official timeline provided for the pending payments.
The gesture by Rajshahi Warriors has been widely praised as a motivating example, underlining the value of recognising and rewarding players’ efforts beyond financial compensation. The combination of prize money and high-end gifts is expected to inspire the squad for future competitions while also setting a benchmark for other franchises in the league.
