Firearm Recovered From Pond in Bhola

Bhola, 23 March 2026 — Police in Bhola Sadar Upazila recovered a pistol along with two rounds of ammunition from a local pond on Monday, authorities confirmed. The incident took place around 12:00 PM in the Chau-Muhuni area of Ward 2, Alinagar Union, from the pond owned by a resident named Md. Jasim.

According to local sources, Jasim noticed an unusual object while operating the pond’s irrigation system in the morning. Upon closer inspection, he identified it as a pistol and immediately alerted the police.

Responding swiftly, officers from Bhola Sadar Model Police Station arrived at the scene and retrieved the weapon along with two live rounds.

Officer in Charge (Investigation), Md. Zia Uddin, confirmed the recovery and stated, “Following the report, our team secured the firearm and the two bullets. We are still investigating whether the pistol is locally made or imported. Further inquiries are underway.”

No suspects have been identified yet, and police have appealed to the local community for any information that could assist the ongoing investigation. Residents expressed concern over the discovery, noting that the area is generally peaceful and such incidents are rare.

The recovered items are now being sent for forensic analysis to determine their origin and any potential involvement in criminal activity. Authorities emphasised the importance of community vigilance in preventing illegal firearms circulation.
