Recent explosions and violent incidents across Iran, including in Tabriz and Ahvaz, have led to multiple civilian casualties and reinforced fears that the ongoing regional conflict involving the United States and Israel is intensifying.
According to officials in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, two apparently coordinated attacks struck residential and public areas in Tabriz this week. Majid Farsi, director of the province’s disaster management authority, reported that:
At the same time, the broader war involving Iran, the United States, Israel, and allied militias has seen repeated strikes on civilian and infrastructure targets across multiple Iranian cities — from Tehran and Shiraz to Sanandaj and Minab — according to several accounts from regional monitors. These reports characterise recent days as “one of the bloodiest for civilians” since hostilities escalated this year.
While the specific incidents in Tabriz and Ahvaz are still under investigation, they come amid a sharp escalation in wider hostilities following renewed US–Israeli military operations in Iranian territory. Independent and state media sources alike have reported attacks on residential areas, schools, and hospitals, even as international actors issue conflicting narratives about the intention and justification for such strikes.
Both sides of the conflict accuse the other of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. Iranian state outlets have described US and Israeli operations as punitive strikes against what Tehran calls a “threat to regional security,” while Western sources have framed Iranian retaliatory attacks — including recent missile launches — as disproportionate or indiscriminate.
