BCB Sets Deadline for Dhaka Capitals’ Outstanding Payments

Cricketers of Dhaka Capitals are set to receive their overdue payments by 15 April, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed, ending weeks of uncertainty following the conclusion of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) two months ago. While other franchise teams have already settled their players’ dues, Capitals’ players have been awaiting their rightful remuneration.

BCB Director Iftikhar Rahman Mithu, who serves as the BPL’s member secretary, provided an update to the media: “Some payments were made prior to Eid, but players were informed that the full amount would be settled later. So far, roughly BDT 1 crore has been paid. According to my calculations, the remaining amount stands at BDT 3.7 crore.”

Although regulations stipulate that franchise teams must clear payments within 45 days, the deadline has now lapsed by over two months. Mithu clarified that the remaining funds are secured via a bank guarantee of BDT 5 crore, ensuring that players will receive their dues promptly once the transfer is processed. “Cricketers will receive the remaining payment by 15 April,” he affirmed.

Earlier, other franchises had completed outstanding payments. At the beginning of February, Noakhali Express and Sylhet Titans cleared their arrears directly from funds submitted to the BCB. Similarly, prize money for the champion Rajshahi Warriors and runner-up Chattogram Royals was disbursed through the board.

The runner-up Chattogram Royals received 40% of their prize money, totalling BDT 1.75 crore, while the champion Rajshahi Warriors received BDT 2.75 crore. Historically, franchises have received dividends from BCB’s earnings from the preceding BPL season; however, details regarding this season’s profit-sharing remain unclear.

BCB’s intervention reflects a growing emphasis on financial transparency and player welfare in domestic cricket. The delays, largely attributed to administrative bottlenecks and franchise cash-flow issues, have been a recurring concern, prompting the board to enforce stricter deadlines and utilise bank guarantees to protect players’ interests.

BPL 2026 Outstanding Payments Overview

Franchise Team Payment Status Amount Paid (BDT) Remaining Amount (BDT) Notes

With the deadline approaching, the Dhaka Capitals’ cricketers can finally expect clarity and security regarding their earnings. The BCB continues to reinforce its commitment to ensuring timely payment, safeguarding players’ financial rights, and maintaining confidence in the domestic T20 league’s integrity.
