In a significant development in a high-profile criminal case, Mossaddek Khan, a 25-year-old fugitive implicated in a gang-rape incident, has been apprehended in Ashulia, Savar. The arrest was carried out by RAB-4 during a coordinated operation on Monday night, 23 March 2026, and confirmed in a press release by Company Commander and Additional Police Superintendent Md. Shahinur Kabir.
Mossaddek Khan, a resident of Jamgora Dorgarpara, Ashulia Thana, Dhaka, is the son of the late Rabiul Khan. He was taken into custody following a targeted raid in the Chinchina Mor area of Yarapur Union, marking the culmination of weeks of surveillance and intelligence work. Authorities indicated that he had been evading law enforcement since the incident occurred.
According to the RAB statement, the crime took place on the night of 24 January 2026, around 12:15 am, at a rented residence in Jamgora. Mossaddek, posing as the house manager, arrived at the victim’s room with six accomplices. Believing his claim, the victim’s husband opened the door. The assailants then forcibly entered the room, falsely claiming that the couple was not legally married and demanding to see their marriage certificate.
Despite the victim, identified as Sonia, stating that her marriage certificate was with her mother, the group restrained her husband, covered her mouth, and subjected her to repeated sexual assault. The perpetrators threatened to kill the couple if they reported the crime, fleeing the scene around 4 am.
Md. Shahinur Kabir of RAB-4 stated:
“Mossaddek Khan has admitted to direct involvement in the incident. The victim, a newlywed, was residing with her parents and her husband regularly visited their rented home. Legal proceedings against the accused are ongoing, and he has been handed over to Ashulia Police Station for formal processing.”
Authorities stressed that the arrest represents a critical step toward delivering justice in a case that had generated widespread public concern. The operation underscores RAB’s commitment to pursuing fugitives and ensuring accountability for violent crimes against women.
