Prime Minister Exchanges Eid Greetings on First Workday

Following the extended Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the civil service resumed its regular operations on Tuesday, 24 March. Marking the first day back, the Prime Minister arrived at the Secretariat precisely at 9:01 a.m., where she warmly exchanged Eid greetings with officials and staff before commencing her routine administrative duties.

Atikur Rahman Ruman, the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, confirmed the event, noting that the leader made a point of personally greeting the personnel upon arrival. “After the long holiday, the Prime Minister reached her office at exactly 9:01 a.m. and interacted with officers and employees, conveying her Eid wishes before beginning her official schedule,” he stated.

The day saw a gathering of high-ranking government figures, including ministers, advisers, and secretaries from various ministries, joining the Prime Minister in the festive exchange. Among those present were Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Minister for Expatriate Welfare; Rashiduzzaman Millat, State Minister for Civil Aviation; Mahdi Amin, Adviser to the Prime Minister; Nasimul Gani, Cabinet Secretary; ABM Abdus Sattar, Chief Secretary; and Mia Muhammad Ashraf Reza Faridi, Private Secretary, along with other senior secretaries and officials.

The occasion reflected a customary practice in Bangladesh’s administrative culture, where leaders personally extend holiday greetings to staff at the beginning of the workweek, reinforcing a sense of unity and goodwill among government employees. Such interactions, though brief, are seen as an important gesture of leadership and recognition of the contributions of civil servants.
