Police in Manikganj have recovered the body of a young man from the Kaliganga River in Pach Barail Bot Tala, Nabagram Union, Manikganj Sadar Upazila. The gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon at around 4:00 pm by a local resident who was fishing in the river and noticed the body. Authorities were promptly notified, and the Manikganj Sadar Police arrived at the scene to retrieve the remains.
According to local sources, the victim’s head had been severed from his body, and his chest and abdominal cavity had been mutilated, with internal organs exposed. The head was missing from the scene. The severity of the injuries has led investigators to treat the case as a particularly brutal homicide.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) dispatched a team to Manikganj to assist in identifying the body. Forensic officers collected fingerprints and began a systematic investigation to establish the victim’s identity and gather evidence that could lead to the perpetrators.
The victim has been identified as Rafik, an auto-rickshaw driver from Baniajuri, Ghiur Upazila, who had been missing for two days. Upon hearing of the discovery, Rafik’s wife and sister arrived at the scene and confirmed the body as that of Rafik. Following identification, the police sent the body to the Manikganj District Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
Manikganj Sadar Police have stated that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness. Legal action will follow upon completion of the autopsy, which will provide crucial information about the time and cause of death, as well as the nature of the injuries inflicted.
