Assistant Driver Found Dead in Bus

In a distressing incident in Naogaon, the body of a young man was recovered from a bus that had been parked for repairs at a garage in the city. The discovery was made on Tuesday at around 11:00 a.m. at a garage located near the Bypass Barunkandi junction.

The deceased has been identified as Jahid Islam, aged 22, son of the late Ibrahim of Tulshirampur village in Manda Upazila. Jahid had been employed as an assistant driver for the B R Super Paribahan bus service for nearly a year.

According to local residents and the Naogaon Sadar police, the bus in question developed a mechanical fault on Monday. It was subsequently taken to a garage owned by a local mechanic, known as Kalu, in Barunkandi for engine repairs. Jahid, along with his colleague Yusuf, spent the night inside the bus after their evening meal.

Early Tuesday morning, Yusuf attempted to wake Jahid, calling out several times, but received no response. Alarmed, he informed the local police, who arrived at the scene and recovered Jahid’s body at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Mohammad Asaduzzaman, stated, “Upon receiving the report, we secured the scene and collected the body along with other evidence. The body has been sent to the Naogaon General Hospital morgue for autopsy. No external injuries were observed on the deceased. Whether the death was natural or the result of foul play will be determined once the post-mortem report is complete. An unnatural death case has been registered in this regard.”

Local sources described Jahid as a diligent and quiet young man. His family reported that he exhibited no signs of illness or discomfort prior to the incident.
