Bail Revoked, Nobel Returned to Prison

Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Court has ordered the revocation of bail for singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel, sending him back to prison after he breached the conditions of a settlement in a case involving financial fraud and deception. The ruling was delivered on Thursday, 2 April, by Magistrate Raju Ahmed following a hearing at the court.

According to court sources, Thursday was the scheduled date for the case. Nobel, who was out on bail, appeared in court; however, it was found that he had violated the settlement conditions while on bail. Legal representatives petitioned the court for the immediate cancellation of his bail. After reviewing the matter, the court agreed and issued an order for Nobel to be taken into custody.

Previously, on 24 February, the same court had granted Nobel temporary bail under specific settlement conditions. That bail was valid until Thursday, coinciding with the current court date.

Case Background

Court records indicate that Nobel developed a relationship with a woman named Anannia Shobnom Roz, promising marriage while soliciting money from her. Between 25 August 2023 and June 2025, Nobel allegedly received a total of BDT 1,318,540 from her. He failed to return the funds, effectively misappropriating them.

Following the complaint, filed on 13 August 2025, the court instructed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to conduct a formal inquiry. The PBI’s investigation confirmed the authenticity of the allegations, prompting further legal action.

Subsequently, on 3 February 2025, arrest warrants were issued against Nobel, his mother, his wife, and two other associates. Nobel was apprehended on 23 February 2025 in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj.

Prior Legal Record

Nobel has a history of legal issues. Most recently, in May 2025, he was arrested under a case filed at Demra Police Station, which included allegations of rape and physical assault. Notably, he was granted bail five days after marrying the complainant while in custody.
