‘Anima’s Gaanghor’ Explores Lives of Artists

A captivating new cultural programme, ‘Anima’s Gaanghor’, hosted by eminent Rabindra Sangeet artist and Chair of the Music Department at Jagannath University, Dr. Anima Roy, is set to provide an in-depth look into the lives, philosophies, and artistic journeys of Bangladesh’s most distinguished cultural figures.

Created for the Kolahal Communications Platform, the programme takes inspiration from the traditional baithaki adda, presenting conversations in a relaxed, informal format. Rather than conventional interviews, Dr. Roy engages guests in intimate discussions about their personal lives, creative processes, and broader reflections on culture and art.

Dr. Anima Roy shared her motivation behind the series:

“Music has shaped my entire life. I wanted to create a space where artists could openly discuss their journeys, their inspirations, and their philosophies. ‘Anima’s Gaanghor’ is my attempt to document these priceless conversations for posterity.”

The programme is directed and produced by Tanvir Tarek, with episodes ranging from 40 minutes to one hour. Each conversation is designed to reveal the inner thoughts of the artists, offering audiences a rare glimpse into their creative world.

Several episodes have already been recorded, featuring acclaimed artists such as Fatema Tuz Johra, Rabindra Sangeet singer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, music director and singer Tanvir Alam Sajib, and vocalist Fatema-Tuz-Johra Oishi.

The programme will air every Friday at 10:00 PM across five platforms, including the Kolahal official page, Tanvir Tarek’s YouTube channel, the Swadhin Music app, and two additional streaming services. The premiere episode is scheduled for Friday, 3 April, featuring Tanvir Alam Sajib as the inaugural guest, who will share insights from his extensive career in music.
