A fatal road traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger bus has resulted in the death of a young man and left two others injured in Muksudpur Upazila, Gopalganj. The incident occurred on the night of Friday, 17 April, in the Shantipur area of Jalirpar Union, situated along the Gopalganj-Tekkerhat road.
The deceased has been identified as Tamim Matubbar, aged 30, son of Salam Matubbar. He was a resident of Krishnapur Paikpara village within the Rajoir Upazila of Madaripur district. According to reports from the local police and witnesses, the accident took place while Tamim was returning home from a local traditional festival.
Tamim had visited the ‘Charak Ghulli’ festivities held in South Jalirpar village under Muksudpur Upazila. He was travelling back to his village in Rajoir on a motorcycle accompanied by two friends. During the journey, a head-on collision occurred between their motorcycle and a local passenger bus operated by ‘Tekkerhat Enterprise’. The bus was en route to Gopalganj from Tekkerhat at the time of the impact.
The collision resulted in severe injuries to all three individuals on the motorcycle. Local residents promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and transported the critically injured Tamim to the Rajoir Upazila Health Complex in the neighbouring Madaripur district.
Upon arrival at the medical facility, the attending physician at the emergency department, Dr Mohammed Sohag Sheikh, pronounced Tamim deceased. Dr Sheikh confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries prior to reaching the hospital. The medical authorities subsequently notified the police regarding the casualty.

Following the incident, the Muksudpur Police Station took jurisdiction over the matter. The Officer-in-Charge (OC), Abdullah Al Mamun, stated that the body of the deceased underwent the necessary legal and administrative procedures. On Saturday, following the completion of these formalities, the remains were officially handed over to the grieving family for burial.
The condition of the two injured companions, who were also involved in the collision, has not been detailed further, though they received initial medical attention. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the head-on collision on the Gopalganj-Tekkerhat road to determine the exact cause of the accident. Local law enforcement continues to monitor the road safety situation in the Muksudpur region following the tragic event.
