Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has launched a dedicated Hajj service booth at the Hajj Camp in Ashkona, Dhaka, to facilitate banking services, provide essential guidance, and distribute necessary items for Hajj pilgrims.
The booth was inaugurated on 16 April 2026 by Md. Altaf Hossain, Managing Director (Current Charge) of the bank, who attended as the chief guest. Senior officials present at the inauguration included A.K.M. Mahbub Morshed, Head of Dhaka North Zone, and Md. Maznuzzaman, Executive Vice President, along with other executives and staff members. The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the bank.
The initiative follows the bank’s regular practice of operating a service booth at the Ashkona Hajj Camp each year during the Hajj season. The arrangement is intended to support pilgrims with financial transactions and related services before their departure.
The booth provides multiple banking facilities, including the exchange of foreign currency—specifically Saudi Riyal and United States Dollar—in return for Bangladeshi Taka. It also offers issuance of Hajj Cards and endorsement services for Debit Cards and Khidmah (Credit) Cards. In addition, ATM-related support services are made available for pilgrims.
These services allow pilgrims to withdraw Saudi Riyals from any Visa-supported ATM network in Saudi Arabia, ensuring access to funds during their stay for Hajj rituals.
In addition to financial services, the booth distributes several essential items to pilgrims. These include umbrellas, handbags, shoe bags, and bags designed for collecting stones used in the ritual at Mina. The bank also provides printed leaflets containing instructions, procedural guidelines, and information related to Hajj, aimed at assisting pilgrims in understanding the requirements and sequence of rituals.
