A significant reshuffle has taken place within the Bangladesh Police, involving the transfer and reassignment of 19 senior officers across various key ranks, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional DIG, and Superintendent of Police.
The order was issued on Wednesday, 22 April, under the authority of the President and signed by Toufique Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The directive has taken immediate effect in the interest of public service, with all concerned officers instructed to join their new postings without delay.
According to the official notification, the reshuffle affects operational, administrative, and specialised units of the force, reflecting a broad restructuring across multiple wings of policing, including highway, metropolitan, intelligence, and training divisions.
Among the notable appointments, Mohammad Abdullahil Baquee, a DIG-ranked officer, has been posted to the Highway Police. DIG Kazi Zia Uddin has been assigned to the Police Staff College, while newly promoted DIG Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh has been placed at Police Headquarters in Dhaka.
Several Superintendents of Police have also been reassigned to metropolitan and specialised units. In Sylhet, multiple Deputy Commissioner-level posts within the Metropolitan Police have been filled through fresh postings.

Further senior-level movements include Mohammad Rezaul Karim’s appointment as Additional Inspector General in the Naval Police and Khondaker Nazmul Hasan’s posting as Commandant (DIG) in Tangail. Mohammad Ashfakul Alam has been reassigned to Police Headquarters as DIG, while Md. Majid Ali has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in a similar capacity.
In addition, DIG of Highway Police Mohammad Abdul Mabud has been appointed Police Commissioner (DIG) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police. At the same time, several Additional DIG and SP-ranked officers have been placed in specialised units such as the Central Police Hospital, Telecommunication Unit, Police Bureau of Investigation, and regional metropolitan divisions.
The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the reshuffle has been carried out in the public interest and is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening field-level policing, and ensuring better coordination among specialised units. The order also emphasised that the changes are to be implemented immediately to maintain administrative continuity and service delivery.
