In addition to the narcotics, officers recovered dangerous weaponry, specifically two “Samurai” swords and two cleavers (chapatis), which are commonly used in street crimes and muggings. A total of 2,770 Bangladeshi Taka in cash was also confiscated from the suspects.
Deputy Commissioner NM Nasiruddin stated that the operations are part of a broader, regular initiative to sanitise crime-prone areas and deter criminal syndicates from operating in the capital. The police confirmed that all 72 suspects have been processed and forwarded to the court to face legal proceedings relevant to their specific charges.
The Tejgaon division is known for several high-traffic and industrial zones, and the DMP has signalled that such “regular operations” will continue to be conducted to ensure the safety of residents and businesses. Under the current legal framework, the suspects will remain in judicial custody pending further investigation into their alleged involvement in organised crime, robbery, and the narcotics trade.
