Following a historic 2-1 One Day International (ODI) series victory against New Zealand, several Bangladesh cricketers have secured significant advancements in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) player rankings. The update, released today, reflects the individual performances that underpinned the national team’s successful campaign against the Black Caps.
The series was characterised by a dominant display from the Bangladesh pace attack. The trio of Nahid Rana, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman combined for a total of 18 wickets across the three matches, leading to substantial jumps in their respective bowling rankings:
Nahid Rana: As the leading wicket-taker of the series with 8 wickets in three appearances, Rana climbed 16 places. He now occupies the 48th position globally.
Shoriful Islam: Maintaining his consistency, Shoriful claimed 5 wickets in three matches, moving up 11 places to reach the 28th spot.
Mustafizur Rahman: Despite featuring in only a single match during the series, Mustafizur made an immediate impact by taking 5 wickets. This performance propelled him 14 places upward to 41st position.
The batting department also saw notable gains, particularly for the series’ top performers. Najmul Hossain Shanto, the only centurion from either side during the ODI series, advanced 11 places to 32nd in the batting rankings. His teammate Litton Das, who accumulated 129 runs across three matches—including a half-century—surged 15 places to reach the 65th position.
In the ICC ODI All-rounder rankings, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has climbed to joint-third place. The 28-year-old contributed 36 runs and 2 wickets during the series, bringing his rating to 275 points. He now shares the third spot with Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.

Furthermore, the ICC update accounted for the opening fixture of the ongoing T20 International (T20I) series between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy, following an unbeaten innings of 51 runs, moved up 9 places in the T20I batting rankings to occupy the 39th position. This collective rise in rankings underscores a period of sustained performance for the Bangladesh squad across multiple formats.
