Computer Shop Sealed in Jaldhaka for Forging Driving Licences

Authorities in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari, have taken decisive action against a local business found to be producing forged driving licences for motorcyclists. A mobile court, acting on specific intelligence, sealed the establishment known as Monir Computer and imposed financial penalties following an operation on Thursday, 30 April 2026.

The enforcement drive was conducted in the vicinity of the Jaldhaka Police Station gate during the early afternoon. The operation was led by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Zaid Imrul Mozakkin, with tactical support provided by members of the local police department. The intervention follows reports of systematic document forgery aimed at bypassing recent regulatory requirements for motorists.

Regulatory Context and the Forgery Scheme

The discovery of the forgery ring is closely linked to the enforcement of “fuel cards” for motorcyclists. Under current local directives, petrol pumps and refuelling stations are prohibited from dispensing fuel to motorcyclists who do not possess a valid fuel card. To obtain these cards, riders must present legitimate documentation, including a valid driving licence and vehicle registration, through an official online application process.

Investigations revealed that numerous motorcyclists, lacking the requisite legal permits, sought the services of Monir Computer to facilitate their fuel card applications. The proprietor of the shop, Monir Hossain, allegedly exploited this demand by producing counterfeit driving licence documents. These forged papers were designed to mimic official records, allowing motorcyclists to deceptively apply for fuel cards and continue operating their vehicles without having undergone the mandatory testing and licensing procedures mandated by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

Details of the Enforcement Action

During the raid on Thursday, the mobile court uncovered evidence of the illicit activity being conducted on the premises. Upon confirming that the shop was serving as a hub for the generation of fraudulent licences, UNO Zaid Imrul Mozakkin ordered the immediate cessation of business activities.

The following measures were implemented:

  • Sealing of Premises: The shop was placed under official seal, effectively barring the owner from continuing operations.

  • Financial Penalty: A fine of 10,000 BDT was summarily imposed on the proprietor under relevant sections of the law governing fraudulent practices and document forgery.

  • Confiscation of Equipment: Reports indicate that computer hardware used in the production of the forged documents was scrutinised as part of the evidence-gathering process.

Statements from Local Administration

Confirming the details of the operation, UNO Zaid Imrul Mozakkin stated that the administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards activities that undermine public safety and legal compliance. “The establishment was found to be providing motorcyclists with forged driving licences to circumvent the law. Consequently, the shop has been sealed, and a fine of 10,000 BDT has been levied against the owner,” he remarked.

The local administration has emphasised that such forgeries pose a significant risk to road safety, as they allow unqualified individuals to operate motor vehicles. By bypassing the BRTA’s licensing process, these drivers evade the necessary checks on their driving proficiency and knowledge of traffic regulations.

Broader Implications for Motorists

The crackdown in Jaldhaka serves as a stern warning to both document forgers and the motorists who seek their services. Authorities have indicated that the monitoring of computer shops and service centres located near government offices and police stations will be intensified to prevent similar occurrences.

Furthermore, the administration has urged motorcyclists to follow the legitimate channels for licence acquisition. The BRTA has introduced several digital initiatives to streamline the licensing process, yet the presence of such forgery hubs suggests that some motorists continue to seek illegal shortcuts. Following this operation, local police are expected to increase checks on the authenticity of fuel cards and licences during routine traffic stops to ensure that all motorists on the road are properly qualified and documented.
