A man has died after being struck by a train while walking along a railway line in the Shambhuganj area of Mymensingh city.
The incident occurred at around 10:00 am on Sunday (3 May), according to local sources. The deceased, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, is estimated to have been approximately 47 years of age.
Witness accounts and local reports indicate that a passenger train travelling from Mohanganj in Netrokona district towards Dhaka was passing through the Shambhuganj railway station area at the time of the accident. The man was reportedly walking along the railway track when he was hit by the train, resulting in his death at the scene.
Locals suggested that the victim may not have noticed the approaching train or its warning signals, though this remains unverified as part of the official investigation.
Following the incident, railway authorities were informed and personnel from the railway police arrived at the location. The body was recovered from the site and subsequently taken for post-mortem examination.
According to the officer-in-charge of the Mymensingh Railway Police Station, Md Akhtar Hossain, the police responded after receiving information about the incident. He confirmed that the identity of the deceased had not yet been established at the time of recovery. Legal procedures in connection with the incident are currently in progress.
