At least ten people, including teachers, students, transport workers and labourers, have been killed and six others injured in a series of separate road traffic accidents across Bogura district during the Eid-ul-Adha holiday period.

According to police and fire service reports, the incidents occurred between the night of 26 May and 30 May in Shajahanpur, Shibganj, Nandigram and Kahalu upazilas. Authorities noted that at least three of the crashes were linked to reckless motorcycle riding, while others involved collisions between heavy and light vehicles on regional highways.

Among the deceased is Ashraful Ali Pramanik (56), head teacher of Kurahar Government Primary School in Kurahar village under Atmul Union of Shibganj upazila. He was returning home by motorcycle from Shibganj town late on 30 May when a truck carrying potatoes struck him at Lalduh area of the upazila headquarters. He died on the spot. Police later seized the truck, although the driver fled the scene.

Earlier, on 29 May, three friends were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles at Baromile area on the Bogura–Naogaon road in Kahalu upazila. The deceased were Rahim Bijoy (23), Apurba (18) and Prem Banshfor (20). Two others sustained injuries in the same incident and are currently receiving treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

On the night of 28 May, another fatal crash occurred at Shaflajani area on the Sherpur–Dhunut road in Sherpur upazila. Three motorcycles collided head-on, killing two students instantly: Abu Raihan (20), a first-year student of Bogura Polytechnic Institute, and Tamim Hossain (21), a class XI student of Sherwood International School and College. Four others were injured and admitted to hospital.

Between the night of 26 May and the morning of 27 May, four additional fatalities were reported in separate accidents in Kahalu and Nandigram upazilas. The deceased were Uttam Mandal (30), a bus supervisor from Badalgachhi in Naogaon; Md Hridoy (30), a truck helper from Adamdighi; Injamam (20), a truck assistant from Jhenaidah; and Robiul Awal Zia (42), a factory worker from Birganj in Dinajpur. These incidents involved collisions between buses, trucks and other vehicles, according to initial police findings.
