The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially granted No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to five Bangladeshi cricketers, including the prominent all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, to participate in the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). Because the schedule of the domestic T20 tournament clashes directly with Bangladesh’s bilateral T20 International (T20I) series during their tour of Zimbabwe, the national squad will have to proceed without the services of several key players.
Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently not part of the national team setup, secured his place in the tournament through a direct contract signing. Following the same pathway, top-order batsman Litton Das and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed were also signed through direct contracts by their respective franchises. The BCB has approved the participation of all three players. According to a report published by the sports media outlet Cricbuzz, both Litton and Taskin will miss the T20I series against Zimbabwe, having been rested by the board to manage their schedules and facilitate their franchise appearances.
In addition to the directly contracted trio, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz and pace bowler Hasan Mahmud have also received their NOCs from the board after being picked up by franchises from the player draft. Shahriar Nafees, the Head of Cricket Operations at the BCB, confirmed these developments to the press. He stated that Litton and Taskin have been excluded from the national T20I squad for the Zimbabwe series, whilst formal permission has been extended to Shakib, Miraz, and Hasan Mahmud to feature in the Sri Lankan league.
The five players will represent three different franchises during this season of the competition. The distribution of the players, their acquisition methods, and their respective teams are outlined in the table below:
| Player Name | Acquisition Method | LPL Franchise Team |
| Shakib Al Hasan | Direct Contract | Jaffna Kings |
| Taskin Ahmed | Direct Contract | Jaffna Kings |
| Litton Das | Direct Contract | Galle Gladiators |
| Mehidy Hasan Miraz | Player Draft | Galle Gladiators |
| Hasan Mahmud | Player Draft | Colombo Caps |
The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League is scheduled to commence on 17 July, with the final match slated to take place on 8 August. Concurrently, the Bangladesh national team is scheduled to tour Zimbabwe this month for a full-fledged multi-format series, comprising a solitary Test match, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three T20Is. The tour will begin with the lone Test match in Harare on 28 June. The three-match ODI series is set to conclude on 11 July, whereas the subsequent T20I series will run until 19 July, creating the scheduling conflict that necessitated the board’s squad adjustments.
