Violent Attack Over Land Dispute Shock Mohammadpur Community

A violent assault sparked by a deep-seated property dispute has taken place in the capital’s Mohammadpur area, with footage of the incident rapidly circulating across social media platforms. The brazen attack occurred on Friday evening at the residence of a local businessman, Abu Bakar, situated near the bustling Mohammadpur Tin Rastar Mor intersection.

The alarming incident was captured in a video sequence lasting one minute and twenty-five seconds, which has since generated significant public outrage online. The footage shows two individuals sitting quietly on chairs inside the ground-floor garage of the residential property. A small group of men suddenly enters the premises and initiates a tense conversation. Within moments, the confrontation turns violent.

A teenager in the group can be seen pulling a large cleaver from his waistband. An older man wearing a traditional panjabi standing next to him immediately seizes the weapon, using its blunt side to strike one of the seated individuals. Undeterred, the teenager draws a second cleaver, brandishing it aggressively to intimidate those present before launching multiple physical strikes at one of the victims.

The Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, Mezbah Uddin, addressed the situation on Saturday, confirming that a formal investigation is actively underway. Preliminary police assessments indicate that the targeted assault was entirely motivated by an ongoing dispute over land ownership.

Following the ordeal, the property owner, Abu Bakar—locally known as Abu Company—lodged a formal complaint at the local police station. The case explicitly names four specific individuals as the primary perpetrators. According to the victim’s statement, the attackers are known acquaintances with whom he has had long-running disagreements regarding real estate boundaries.

Law enforcement agencies have intensified their presence in the neighbourhood following the incident. Officer-in-Charge Mezbah Uddin assured the public that multiple police units are conducting targeted raids across various parts of the capital to apprehend the fugitives.
