Freedom Fighter Abdul Rouf Laid to Eternal Rest

The burial of valiant freedom fighter Haji Md Abdul Rouf Sarkar has been completed following his death at the age of 73.

He was laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon after a funeral prayer held at the grounds of Khilgaon Government Primary School, near Pubail College in Gazipur. Family members, relatives, well-wishers and local residents attended the funeral and gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran of Bangladesh’s Liberation War.

Abdul Rouf died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital late on Monday night. His death brought an end to the life of a man who had taken part in the country’s Liberation War and was subsequently remembered as a freedom fighter. His passing has left his family and wider circle of relatives and admirers mourning the loss.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters, as well as grandchildren, relatives and numerous well-wishers. His death has created a deep sense of grief among those who knew him and remained connected to him throughout his life.

His younger son, Abubakar Sarkar, is currently serving as the private secretary to the State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock. A Bangladesh Civil Service officer, Abubakar holds a government position and has been working in support of the state minister’s official responsibilities.

The death of Abdul Rouf also drew condolences from senior government figures. Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku expressed profound sorrow at his passing.

In their separate messages of condolence, the ministers prayed for the forgiveness and eternal peace of the departed soul. They also conveyed their deepest sympathy and heartfelt support to the bereaved family members as they cope with their loss.
