Tehran Rejects US Terms as Washington Threatens Escalated Strikes

Iran has firmly refused to bow to American pressure to sign a dictated security agreement, preferring to withstand ongoing military strain rather than capitulate to unilateral terms from Washington.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, US President Donald Trump acknowledged the diplomatic stalemate, stating that although communication channels remain active, Tehran is not ready to sign a deal on terms acceptable to the United States. His remarks come amidst an intensifying aerial campaign that has seen American forces target Iranian civilian infrastructure, including key roads, railway links, and transport bridges.

Fragile Truce Collapses Amid Infrastructure Attacks

The breakdown in negotiations follows the collapse of a Swiss-brokered memorandum of understanding that had briefly established a 60-day pause in hostilities. Designed to shepherd both nations back to formal talks over long-term nuclear disarmament, the agreement unravelled after US strikes resumed inside Iranian territory.

Initially concentrated across southern Iran, recent American airstrikes have moved progressively closer to the capital, Tehran. Transport infrastructure has taken the brunt of the bombardment, disabling critical logistics corridors and severing domestic transit routes.

Despite the growing toll on national infrastructure, Iranian leaders maintain that any lasting treaty must respect regional sovereignty and guarantee an end to pre-emptive military coercion.

Trump Pressures Beijing and Moscow Over Iranian Support

With Iran historically drawing geopolitical backing from China and Russia, Washington is actively working to isolate Tehran from its major international partners.

Posting on Truth Social, President Trump claimed to have received personal assurances from Chinese President Xi Jinping during recent high-level meetings in Beijing. According to the US President, Xi affirmed that China would neither supply nor sell weaponry to Iran, nor would Chinese defense firms be permitted to engage in military sales with Tehran.

President Trump issued a stern warning to both Beijing and Moscow against intervening in the conflict:

“I trust that China and Russia will not assist Iran in this conflict. If they choose to get involved, it will be very bad for them.”

White House Weighs Unprecedented Military Escalation

Internal deliberations within the administration indicate that Washington is preparing for a significantly larger military push if diplomatic overtures remain stalled.

Following a high-level White House briefing on Friday where President Trump met with senior cabinet members and security advisers, officials discussed plans to intensify current operations. Speaking earlier in an interview with Axios, President Trump signaled that a major decision regarding the trajectory of the campaign was imminent.

“I am considering a massive strike—one larger than anything seen before. I am very close to making a decision, and we are fully prepared for it.”

While Washington signals readiness to expand its bombardment independently, questions linger over regional coalition dynamics. President Trump hinted that Israel may not actively participate in the next wave of escalated strikes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to travel to the United States on Monday for bilateral talks at the White House to align strategic objectives.

For now, Tehran remains steadfast in its stance, refusing to sign any accord drafted under the threat of force as both sides prepare for further confrontation.
