With more than 10 million Bangladeshis living and working overseas and the country’s international trade continuing to expand, foreign currency exchange rates remain a key concern for both individuals and businesses. Every day, remittance earners, importers, exporters, students studying abroad and international travellers monitor exchange rates to estimate transaction costs and financial returns.
On Thursday, 6 August 2026, the exchange rates of several major foreign currencies against the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) were released. These indicative rates provide a useful reference for financial planning, although actual buying and selling prices may vary slightly between commercial banks, authorised exchange houses and money transfer operators.
The US Dollar continues to be the most closely watched foreign currency due to its central role in global trade and international finance. The Euro and the British Pound also remain significant for businesses engaged with European markets, while currencies such as the Saudi Riyal, UAE Dirham, Malaysian Ringgit and Singapore Dollar are particularly important because of the large number of Bangladeshi expatriates working in those countries.
Below are the exchange rates for selected foreign currencies against the Bangladeshi Taka as of 6 August 2026:
| Country/Currency | Exchange Rate (BDT) |
|---|---|
| Malaysian Ringgit (1 MYR) | 30.23 |

| UAE Dirham (1 AED) | 33.70 |
| Omani Riyal (1 OMR) | 320.25 |

| Qatari Riyal (1 QAR) | 34.00 |
| Kuwaiti Dinar (1 KWD) | 402.71 |

Foreign exchange rates play an important role in Bangladesh’s economy, particularly in determining the value of inward remittances and the cost of imported goods. Even modest fluctuations can affect businesses involved in international trade, overseas workers sending money home and travellers planning foreign visits.
Market participants should also bear in mind that currency exchange rates are dynamic and may change at any time in response to global financial market movements, central bank policies, international trade conditions and domestic demand. As a result, the rates quoted above should be regarded as indicative, and the actual rates offered by financial institutions may differ depending on the timing and nature of the transaction.
