DHAKA, Feb 21, 2025 (BSS) – National University (NU) authorities today commemorated Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day with the highest respect, honoring the martyrs of the language movement.
Vice-Chancellor of National University, Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, along with faculty members and students, paid homage to the fallen heroes at the central Shaheed Minar, according to an official press release.
The ceremony was attended by NU Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Professor Md Lutfar Rahman and Professor Dr. Md Nurul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. ATM Zafrul Azam, Deans (Acting) of various faculties, Registrar, Controller, Heads of Departments, as well as numerous teachers, officials, students, and employees.
In addition, floral tributes were laid at the Memorial Minar on the university’s main campus in Gazipur.
A similar program was held at all colleges and regional centers affiliated with National University to mark the solemn occasion.
As a mark of respect, both the national flag and the university flag were flown at half-mast, and a black flag was hoisted at the Gazipur campus, Dhanmondi office, and regional centers.
During the observance, university teachers, staff, and students wore black badges as a symbol of remembrance, the release added.
