bKash & Huawei Win GSMA GLOMO Award for Best FinTech Innovation at MWC Barcelona 2025

bKash and Huawei have been honored with the prestigious GSMA GLOMO Award for “Best FinTech Innovation” at MWC Barcelona 2025 for their groundbreaking digital loan solution.

The award recognizes game-changing advancements in financial technology that enhance access to financial services for individuals and businesses. bKash and Huawei’s innovative “Pay Later” service has revolutionized microfinance in Bangladesh, offering short-term digital loans to unbanked users, helping them bridge financial gaps in their daily expenses, according to a media release issued today (March 6).

Since its launch in 2018, bKash has expanded financial access to 61% of Bangladeshi adults, However, 37% of citizens still rely on high-interest informal lenders for urgent needs, while only 9% of adults have access to formal banking services. To address this, Huawei partnered with bKash to introduce the “Pay Later” financial service, offering instant, paperless microloans and delivering a seamless digital payment experience to the majority of Bangladesh’s unbanked population. This service particularly benefits groups, including rural women and small businesses, helping them secure working capital, reduce poverty, and drive local e-commerce growth.
