Kidnapper of Nilphamari Girl Arrested in Rangpur

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime suspect in the kidnapping of a teenage girl from Domar Upazila in Nilphamari. The suspect, Md. Mostakim Islam (alias Munna), was apprehended on Monday night from the Darshana Mour area of Rangpur Metropolis.

Details of the Arrest

According to a press release issued by RAB, Md. Mostakim Islam hails from Purbo Chikonmati (Huzurpara), a village under the jurisdiction of Domar Police Station in Nilphamari District. Prior to the incident, Islam had been repeatedly harassing the victim with unwanted romantic proposals while she was in public spaces.

On the night of 18th April 2025, around 1:30 AM, the victim, who had stepped outside to answer the call of nature, was abducted by Mostakim Islam and his accomplices. The incident took place under the cover of darkness, and the victim was forcibly taken away from her location.

Filing of the Case

The next morning, 17th April 2025, the victim’s mother filed a kidnapping case at Domar Police Station. Despite the victim’s family’s efforts to locate her, the kidnappers remained elusive, and the case was soon taken up by the authorities for investigation.

RAB’s Operation and Arrest

Based on intelligence gathered, a joint operational team comprising personnel from RAB-13’s Rangpur Sadar Company and Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 from Nilphamari Camp launched a coordinated raid. After a careful search and surveillance, the team successfully located and arrested Mostakim Islam from Darshana Mour, a bustling area of Rangpur City, at 11:05 PM on Monday night.

Transfer of the Accused

Following his arrest, Mostakim Islam was handed over to Domar Police Station, where he will face charges in connection with the abduction. The victim’s family has expressed relief and gratitude for the swift action taken by RAB, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
