Pragwati Life Endorses 25% Total Dividend Package at Virtual Assembly

Pragati Life Insurance PLC has officially endorsed a combined 25 per cent dividend for the year 2025, distributing a 15 per cent cash dividend alongside a 10 per cent stock dividend. The resolution was passed with full shareholder consensus during the company’s 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM), convened virtually on Thursday, 13 August.

The digital conference was chaired by Mohammad Abdul Awal, Chairman of Pragati Life Insurance. The gathering featured prominent members of the board, including Founder Chairman Syed M. Altaf Hussain, as well as Directors A. S. M. Mohiuddin Monem and Tajwar M. Awal. The board’s fiduciary oversight was underscored by the presence of Audit Committee Chairman Shahed Ahmad Chowdhury, alongside Directors Dr Syed Kamrul Hossain, Anwar Farooq, and Kamrun Nahar.

Key members of executive management were also actively involved in the proceedings, led by Chief Executive Officer Md. Jalalul Azim and Chief Financial Officer Chandra Shekhar Das, FCA. The session maintained rigorous external oversight with representatives attending from the independent audit firm Anil Salam Idris & Co., Chartered Accountants. Company Secretary Jagadish Kumar Bhanja, FCS, directed the procedural agenda and moderated interactive shareholder discussions.

The dual payout model balances immediate liquidity for investors with long-term financial prudence. By converting a portion of profits into stock dividends, Pragati Life effectively enhances its internal reserve position and paid-up capital. This strategy strengthens the company’s capital adequacy ratio, aligning with statutory solvency guidelines maintained by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) to safeguard policyholder interests.

Operating since 2000, Pragati Life Insurance PLC continues to expand its market footprint across Bangladesh by offering diverse financial protection schemes, including individual policies, group life coverage, medical insurance, and specialized Islamic Takaful options. The successful conclusion of its 26th AGM highlights the company’s commitment to sound corporate practices, financial strength, and continuous value creation for its investors.
