A madrasa teacher has been sent to jail by a court in Manikganj after being accused of sexually abusing two child students in Singair.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Rowshan Jahan of the Manikganj Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court issued the order on Monday afternoon after the accused was produced before the court in connection with the case.
Court Inspector Habibullah Sarkar said the father of one of the two alleged victims filed a case against the teacher at Singair Police Station on Sunday under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Following the filing of the case, the accused was brought before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
According to details contained in the case documents, the alleged incidents took place on 21 and 28 January. The two students, both children, were allegedly subjected to sexual abuse by the accused teacher on those separate occasions. The allegations have since led to legal proceedings against the teacher.
The case has drawn attention to the responsibility of educational institutions to ensure that children are protected from abuse and that allegations involving students are dealt with promptly and through due legal process. Teachers and other adults working with children hold a position of trust, making safeguarding measures particularly important in educational settings.
The accused was reportedly apprehended with the assistance of local residents and the chairman after the allegations came to light. He was subsequently handed over to the authorities and faced the court proceedings that resulted in the latest order.
The case is now expected to proceed through the legal process, during which evidence and statements from those involved will be examined. The allegations against the teacher have not yet been established as proven in court.
The incident also highlights the need for parents, educational authorities and local administrations to remain vigilant when concerns about the safety of children arise. Any allegation of abuse involving minors requires careful investigation, protection of the alleged victims and adherence to legal procedures.
Authorities have not indicated that the court has reached any finding of guilt against the accused at this stage. He will remain in judicial custody as the case progresses.
