Powerful Musical Tribute Demands Justice for Slain Child Ramisa

The tragic rape and brutal murder of young Ramisa has sent shockwaves across the nation, sparking widespread public outrage and intense grief. Channeling this collective sorrow and the relentless public clamour for justice, acclaimed lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has penned a poignant song titled Ramisader Bichar (Justice for Ramisas). Reflecting on a painful history of unresolved atrocities, the opening verses invoke the memories of past victims: “Ramisa has suddenly joined Achiya / The murder of Tonu remains unpunished / Nusrat stands waiting in line.” The song was officially released on Saturday, 15 August, across the Khalid Sangeet YouTube channel, Facebook page, and official web platform.

The track brings together a distinguished group of vocalists to deliver its crucial message. Mahbubul Khalid joined acclaimed singers Tutul, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame Abanti Sithi, and Sherakontho winner Rafsan in lending their voices to the primary arrangement. The chorus features additional vocal support from Sangeeta, Nitu, Surabhi Roman, and Russo.

Complementing the track, a music video created using artificial intelligence technology has been released alongside the song. The video features performances by Mahbubul Khalid, Rafsan, Tutul, Inaina, and Ichha, with visual direction handled by Saifur Rahman Sujon.

Discussing his latest release, Mahbubul Khalid highlighted the social duty driving his creative efforts. He noted that standing up for the oppressed, persecuted, and neglected segments of society remains a central responsibility of his artistic practice. The horrific killing of Ramisa deeply moved him, prompting him to compose the lyrics and melody to capture the nation’s grief. Recognizing that involving multiple artists would amplify the emotional resonance of the composition, he invited Abanti Sithi, Rafsan, and Tutul to collaborate on the project. AI tools were employed during video production to ensure the visual narrative matched the gravity of the song’s themes. He expressed hope that the piece would touch listeners and serve as a wake-up call to the public conscience.

Mahbubul Khalid has long used his music as a vehicle to critique social injustices and address humanitarian crises. His expansive catalogue spans patriotic anthems, devotional songs, children’s music, folk compositions, and spiritual tracks.

His earlier work similarly captured poignant moments of national tragedy. His track Aduri addressed the plight of a severely abused child domestic worker in Mirpur, Dhaka, while Felanire Korlo Guli protested the tragic shooting of young Felani along the border.
