The devastating Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, has claimed another young life. Mohammad Mahtab Bhuiyan (14), a Class 7 student severely burned in the incident, has tragically passed away despite intensive medical care.
Mahtab, who sustained 85% burns, died at 1:50 PM on Thursday, 24 July, while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Mahtab was the only child of Md. Minhajur Rahman Bhuiyan, a resident of Raja Meher Union, Ward 11, in Debidwar Upazila of Cumilla.

Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the institute, confirmed Mahtab’s death. He stated that despite critical care efforts, Mahtab could not survive due to the extent of his injuries.
The fighter jet crash has resulted in extensive casualties and hospitalisations. Dr Shawon further reported:
“Around 50 victims, including students and teachers, were admitted to our burn institute. Among them, 13 have died, including two female teachers — 12 at our institute and 1 at the Dhaka Medical College burn unit.”
Currently, 45 students remain admitted at the National Burn Institute, with 8 in critical condition in the ICU.
The crash occurred on Monday afternoon, 21 July, when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed onto the premises of Milestone School and College, injuring over 100 people.
According to data from the Chief Adviser’s Office, the total death toll now stands at 29. Injured individuals are receiving treatment at various hospitals across the capital.
