A deadly clash over a land dispute between two rival groups in Bhundurchar village, located in the border area of Roumari Upazila, Kurigram, has left three people dead and at least ten others injured. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon, 24 July, in Sadar Union, near the frontier of the district.
| Name | Age | Relationship | Village |
| Phulbabu | 43 | Resident | Bhundurchar |
| Bulu Mia | 52 | Elder brother of Phulbabu | Bhundurchar |
| Nurul Amin | 30 | Nephew | Bhundurchar |
Officer-in-Charge Lutfor Rahman of Roumari Police Station confirmed the fatalities. The identities of the injured have not yet been officially disclosed.
According to local sources, the clash stemmed from a long-standing land dispute between the Shahjamal group and the Rabbani group of Bhundurchar. On Thursday afternoon, tensions escalated when both groups confronted each other on the disputed plot.
The confrontation turned violent as both parties wielded locally made weapons and spears, resulting in a bloody altercation that left three individuals dead on the spot, and injured at least ten, including Rabbani’s son, Apel Mia (47).
| Name | Condition | Treatment Facility |
| Apel Mia | Critical (spear injury) | Admitted to Roumari Upazila Health Complex, later referred for advanced care |
| Others Injured | Various | Receiving primary treatment at local facility |
The remoteness of Bhundurchar, situated between the Jinjiram and Kalor rivers, severely delayed the arrival of law enforcement and emergency responders. The village’s difficult terrain and poor transportation network meant police could not reach the scene immediately.
OC Lutfor Rahman stated:
“Three people have died. At this moment, I cannot provide further details.”
It remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Police investigations are ongoing.
