James’s Manager Denies Rome Hotel Mess Allegations

The recent musical tour of iconic Bangladeshi rock artist Nagar Baul James in Rome has sparked a wave of social media controversy, involving allegations of financial disputes and property misconduct. Following the concert, claims surfaced accusing James and his touring entourage of leaving their hotel accommodation in a disorderly state, prompting hotel management to demand a minimum cleaning fee of 200 euros. However, the artist’s management has strongly rejected these claims, asserting that the accusations bear no direct relation to James himself.

Speaking to the press, James’s spokesperson, Rubaiyat Thakur Robin, clarified that the disputed room was never occupied by the veteran musician. The tour party had booked a total of four rooms at the Best Western hotel upon arriving in Rome for their 16 August performance. According to Robin, James stayed in room 345, while Robin himself occupied room 246. The room at the centre of the complaints—room 549—was allocated to another member of the touring band. Attributing the mess to James, management argues, is an unfair misrepresentation of facts concerning a prominent national artist.

Publicly circulated images from the checkout showed plastic water bottles and rubbish strewn across the floor, alongside used plates, plastic bags, and food waste on the dining table. The kitchen sink reportedly contained unwashed crockery and raw eggs. Hotel representatives subsequently messaged the event organiser to register their displeasure, warning that future bookings would require a mandatory 200-euro cleaning supplement due to the condition in which the apartment was left.

Further allegations suggested the touring party vacated the premises without notifying the reception or settling standard departure formalities. Robin dismissed these claims as fabrications stemming from internal conflicts among the local event organisers. Pointing out the logistical impossibility of sneaking out with a large crew and heavy musical instruments, Robin confirmed that the group departed openly and travelled directly to Venice.

The tour has also been overshadowed by financial friction. Local organiser Hossain Ahmed raised concerns regarding advance payments and ticket sale proceeds, claiming that accounting discrepancies arose and that the touring party refused to clarify financial records, ultimately prompting a police visit to the scene.

In response, Robin maintained that the tour operated strictly under a formal contractual agreement. He noted that if any contractual breaches had occurred, the local authorities or organisers were free to pursue legal avenues. Emphasising that the group remained within Italy and was currently stationed in Venice, Robin argued that such disputes unnecessarily damage the reputation of Bangladeshi artists abroad.
