The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained 482 people across the capital during a rigorous 24-hour sweep, authorities confirmed on Saturday. This large-scale security operation, aimed at curbing crime and drug trafficking, also saw the filing of 32 formal cases against the suspects in various police stations throughout the metropolis.
According to a media release issued by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, officers recovered a substantial quantity of illicit narcotics, counterfeit currency, and stolen valuables during the raids. The crackdown reflects an ongoing intensified effort by law enforcement agencies to maintain public order and tackle urban crime syndicates operating across different neighbourhoods.

Recoveries and Seizures
During the targeted raids, police personnel seized an array of illegal items, including large quantities of narcotics and electronic equipment suspected of being used in illicit activities. The recovered items comprise 13,914 pieces of yaba tablets, 913 grams of heroin, and 32 kilograms of cannabis. Additionally, law enforcement officers confiscated counterfeit currency amounting to 16,000 taka, a gold locket, nine mobile phones, three laptops, two central processing units, two tablet computers, and 55 SIM cards. A cash sum of 268,500 taka was also recovered from the suspects.
Legal proceedings against those detained are currently underway, and investigators are working to dismantle wider distribution networks linked to the seized contraband.
