Rangpur Police Chief Weeps Describing Brutal Quadruple Murder

In an emotional press conference held on Sunday, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud wept openly as he detailed the horrific circumstances surrounding the murder of a retired schoolteacher and three members of his family.
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the killings: Mugdha Das, a fish vendor at the local City Market, and his nephew Siddhartha Das, a worker at a local jewellery shop. According to investigators, the pair purchased Yaba—a synthetic drug combination of methamphetamine and caffeine—on Thursday night before consuming it at a friend’s residence. Late that evening, they accessed the roof of retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty’s home via an adjacent under-construction building to consume more drugs.
Hearing noise on the roof, Mr Chakraborty went upstairs to investigate. The suspects attacked him immediately, strangling him with a traditional cotton towel he carried over his shoulder. When his wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, rushed up the staircase after hearing the commotion, she was ambushed and choked to death in the same manner.
The police commissioner struggled to maintain composure as he described the murder of the couple’s 25-year-old daughter, Prapti Chakraborty. When the attack took several minutes to kill her, the assailants bound her face and neck tightly with rope, fracturing her jaw and inflicting gruesome injuries.
Commissioner Mabud broke down completely when describing the final victim, 12-year-old Priyam Chakraborty, a fifth-grade pupil at Rangpur Zilla School. Pausing to wipe away tears, the officer noted that the boy was the same age as his own son. Priyam was suffocated using cloth and a pillow.
Disturbingly, initial interrogations revealed that after committing the four murders, the suspects remained inside the house until morning. They showered in the family bathroom, consumed dates and cucumbers left on the dining table, and ingested another dose of Yaba. Before fleeing, they attempted to destroy forensic evidence by submerging two stolen smartphones in detergent solution to erase fingerprints.
A murder case has been registered with Kotwali Police Station. Commissioner Mabud assured the public that detectives had gathered critical evidence and would submit a formal charge sheet swiftly to ensure justice for the family.
