Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained five alleged smugglers during an anti-smuggling operation near the Dhamoirhat border in Naogaon district early Saturday morning.
The operation was carried out by a special patrol unit from BGB-14 Patnitala Battalion, which also seized 63 cubic feet of Akashmoni timber and a truck that was being used to smuggle the wood into India.

The arrests took place near the Shimultoli Bridge close to border pillar 260 MP under the jurisdiction of Bustabor Border Outpost (BOP).
The detained individuals have been identified as follows:

According to Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, Commander of BGB-14 Patnitala Battalion, the timber is in the process of being handed over to the local Forest Department, and the detained suspects have been transferred to Dhamoirhat Police Station after a case was filed.
He also stated that anti-smuggling operations will continue in Naogaon and surrounding border areas to prevent cattle trafficking, narcotics smuggling, unauthorised border crossings, and other illicit trade activities.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Zafar of Dhamoirhat Police Station confirmed that the five individuals have been shown as officially arrested.
