A devastating head-on collision between a goods truck and a compressed natural gas-powered autorickshaw has left two people dead and four others injured in central Bangladesh.
The fatal accident occurred at roughly half-past eight on Monday morning along the Trishal-Balipara road in Mymensingh. According to local residents and law enforcement officials, the tragedy unfolded near the Thakurbari intersection when a Balipara-bound lorry collided violently with an oncoming passenger autorickshaw heading towards Trishal.
The impact killed two passengers on the spot—an unidentified man aged approximately thirty-five and a woman around forty years old. Four other occupants, including the autorickshaw driver, sustained severe injuries in the smash.
Bystanders rushed to the aid of the victims, quickly transporting the wounded to the Trishal Upazila Health Complex for emergency medical attention. Medical staff at the local facility administered immediate treatment, but due to the critical nature of their injuries, two of the patients required urgent transfer to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced trauma care.
The injured individuals have been identified as autorickshaw driver Fayzul, along with passengers Rubel, Hridoy, and Nabil. Hospital authorities confirmed that Fayzul and Rubel remain in a critical condition under close medical observation.
Sub-Inspector Rezaul Karim of Trishal Police Station confirmed that officers recovered the bodies from the scene. The driver of the truck fled the area immediately following the collision, and police have launched a search operation to trace the fugitive motorist and secure the vehicle involved in the disaster.
