BNP Cannot Be Cornered Through Pressure, Asserts Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that no matter how hard anyone tries, the BNP cannot be cornered by applying pressure.

He made this comment on Monday (28 July) at the inauguration ceremony of graffiti art in six key locations across Dhaka city by the Jubo Dal’s July movement, held at Shahbagh.

Mirza Fakhrul further emphasised that the July movement was not the effort of a few individuals but a collective struggle involving people of all ages. He noted that BNP has been supporting reform initiatives, while criticising the government’s handling of legal proceedings against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He also expressed strong discontent over the recent arrests of five leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on allegations of extortion, stating:

“Despite facing severe repression at the DB office, not a single BNP activist surrendered or signed any undertaking during that time.”

Mirza Fakhrul’s remarks reinforce the BNP’s stance of resilience and non-compliance in the face of government pressure.
