The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has carried out a significant administrative reshuffle, reassigning four unarmed police inspectors to new operational roles across the capital. Issued on Tuesday, the official directive bears the signature of Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed and takes effect immediately, mandating the newly posted officers to assume their responsibilities without delay.
Routine transfers of this nature form an integral part of the metropolitan police’s ongoing administrative management, designed to maintain operational efficiency and responsiveness across various local precincts. Within the capital’s sprawling jurisdiction, police stations rely heavily on coordinated efforts between their investigation and operation wings to manage daily law enforcement, curb local criminality, and process criminal cases.
The latest directive brings notable changes to the leadership structure at several key stations. Mohammad Moniruzzaman, who previously served as the unarmed police inspector for investigation at Uttara West Police Station, has been appointed as the new officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station. Taking over the helm at Tejgaon places him at the forefront of overseeing local public safety, preventive policing, and the handling of criminal investigations within a vital commercial and residential hub.
Simultaneously, other key departmental portfolios have shifted across the city’s divisions. Salah Uddin Kader transitions from his previous assignment as the inspector for operations at Motijheel Police Station to take up the post of investigation inspector at Ramna Police Station. In a parallel move, Mohammad Nurul Islam moves from the operations branch of Paltan Police Station to assume the investigation inspector role at Adabor Police Station.
The reshuffle also sees internal structural adjustments within the precincts affected by the changes. Sabbir Mohammad Selim, who previously managed the investigation portfolio at Tejgaon Police Station, has been transferred to take charge of the investigation branch at Uttara West Police Station, effectively filling the vacancy left by Mohammad Moniruzzaman.
Within the hierarchical setup of metropolitan police stations, operational and investigative roles demand distinct functional responsibilities. Officers assigned to operations manage field responses, tactical patrols, immediate public order maintenance, and rapid interventions. Conversely, those heading investigation branches focus on gathering forensic evidence, interrogating suspects, preparing case dossiers, and guiding legal proceedings through the judicial pipeline.
Copies of the official transfer order have been formally distributed to senior command echelons, including additional commissioners, joint police commissioners, and respective deputy commissioners, ensuring that administrative records and departmental oversight remain fully aligned across all involved divisions.
