US President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to meet Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the near future, conveying warm greetings to the people of Bangladesh and commending the nation’s leadership.
The diplomatic message was relayed in an official letter sent by the American President to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday, 31 August, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
In his correspondence, President Trump requested the Prime Minister to convey his warm regards and affection to the citizens of Bangladesh. Reflecting on the political and socio-economic challenges faced by the nation in recent years, the US President expressed strong confidence in Bangladesh’s trajectory under the current administration’s guidance.
“They have been through a lot,” President Trump wrote, referring to the people of Bangladesh. “However, under your leadership, I am confident that they and your country will secure a very bright future.”
A significant portion of the letter focused on commercial ties between the two nations, specifically aviation procurement. President Trump formally thanked Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for Bangladesh’s decision to purchase commercial aircraft from the US aerospace manufacturer Boeing.
Addressing the procurement agreement directly, President Trump stated that he had just received the Prime Minister’s official letter regarding the aircraft acquisition and held the decision in high regard. Assuring the Bangladeshi leadership of the manufacturer’s reliability, he noted that Boeing would deliver on its commitments and emphasized that he would personally remember the gesture.
Closing the letter, the US President reiterated his gratitude for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s direct attention to strengthening bilateral commercial ties, whilst expressing keen anticipation for a scheduled bilateral meeting between the two leaders to discuss shared strategic interests.
