The National Youth Alliance, an affiliated organisation of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad), held a rally and procession in Dhaka on Saturday, 5 September 2026, marking its 22nd founding anniversary. The programme began at 5pm from the Jasad premises in the GPO area and proceeded through Zero Point, Paltan intersection and the Press Club before returning to the party office, where the procession concluded.
A major focus of the gathering was a demand for the immediate and unconditional release of Jasad president Hasanul Haq Inu. Participants called for the cancellation of what they described as false cases and an allegedly fabricated verdict against the veteran politician. Party activists and supporters raised slogans demanding that the legal proceedings against him be withdrawn and that he be released without conditions.
The rally also highlighted a range of broader political, social and economic concerns. Participants called for effective measures to reduce electricity load-shedding, resolve the ongoing gas supply crisis and improve the country’s law-and-order situation. Slogans were also raised against what the organisers described as mob rule and mob violence, with speakers and activists demanding stronger measures to prevent such incidents.
Religious communalism was another prominent issue at the procession. Participants called for an end to attacks on places of worship and demanded greater protection for mosques, monasteries, temples, pagodas and churches. The slogans reflected the organisers’ emphasis on religious harmony and opposition to communal violence.
The anniversary procession also carried messages associated with the country’s Liberation War and its political legacy. Participants raised slogans invoking the spirit of the Liberation War while calling for measures to address unemployment and create greater employment opportunities for young people.
Workers’ rights also featured prominently in the demands. The procession called for an end to what participants described as arbitrary layoffs in factories and urged greater protection for workers facing job losses. The issue is particularly significant in a country where industrial employment remains an important source of income for millions of families.
The 22nd anniversary programme therefore combined the organisation’s demand for the release of its party president with a wider set of calls concerning electricity, gas, public safety, communal harmony, employment and workers’ rights. The procession brought together party activists and supporters in central Dhaka, with the slogans continuing throughout the route before the programme ended at the Jasad office.
