Four security guards lost their lives and another individual was wounded in a mass shooting incident at a well-known fresh food market in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, on Monday, according to police officials.

Worapat Sukthai, Deputy Police Chief of Bangkok’s Bang Sue district — where the incident occurred — confirmed the fatal shooting to AFP.

“Police are investigating the motive. So far it’s a mass shooting,”
said Sukthai, noting that the perpetrator died by suicide following the attack.
