Yemen Announces Escalation of Attacks Against Israel

In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Houthi-controlled armed forces of Yemen have declared their intention to intensify military operations against Israel. The announcement came via an official statement released on Sunday evening (27 July), local time.

The Yemeni military called upon all nations to exert pressure on Israel to halt its aggression on Gaza and to lift the blockade, in order to avoid further escalation and large-scale conflict.

Statement Highlights

The Houthi forces stated that the move is in direct response to the suffering of the Palestinian people. According to the statement, the prolonged Israeli blockade and continuous military strikes have led to the deaths of thousands of Palestinians, with what they described as an “ongoing genocide” unfolding in Gaza.

The Yemeni military declared:

“We feel a profound religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility regarding the atrocities being committed in Gaza.”

The statement strongly criticised the creation of hunger and thirst in Gaza due to the blockade, calling it an inhumane act that no person with a conscience could possibly accept.

Fourth Phase of Naval Blockade Declared

Yemen announced it would escalate its naval operations by implementing the fourth phase of its blockade against Israel. Under this phase:

• Any vessel associated with Israeli ports that comes within range of the Yemeni military’s operational area will be considered a target.
• All shipping companies were urged to immediately suspend all operations involving Israeli ports, or face missile and drone strikes.

Warnings and Appeals

The Yemeni forces issued a stark warning:

“Any company continuing business with Israeli ports will not be spared from Yemeni missile and drone attacks.”

They reiterated their appeal to the international community:

“Intervene now to prevent the expansion of this conflict before it spirals further.”

They urged all nations to apply pressure on Israel to end its aggression and lift the blockade of Gaza. The statement further claimed:

“No free and conscious human being on this planet can accept such injustice.”

Furthermore, the Yemeni armed forces stated that if Israel ceases its offensive and lifts the blockade, all Yemeni military operations will be halted immediately.

In their closing remarks, the Yemeni military strongly condemned the ongoing aggression in Gaza and placed blame on what they called the “shameful silence” of the Arab, Islamic, and international communities.
