The incident came to light after the young victim’s grandmother lodged a formal complaint with the police on Sunday, 6 September. According to law enforcement, the suspect allegedly targeted the minor, subjecting her to street harassment before physically assaulting her by touching her inappropriately. Prompted by the written complaint, Harirampur Police Station officially registered a case under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act, 2000.

Following the registration of the case, police personnel executed an emergency operation on Sunday to locate and detain the suspect. Officers successfully apprehended Raju within his local area and taken him into custody for questioning. A press release issued by the Harirampur Police Station confirmed the filing of the case and the subsequent arrest of the accused.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harirampur Police Station, Muhammad Afzal Hossain, confirmed details of the police action, stating that law enforcement took immediate steps once the victim’s grandmother presented the allegations of eve-teasing and physical harassment. He noted that the police station moved swiftly to register the criminal case and secure the suspect’s arrest on the same day.

On Monday afternoon, following the completion of initial legal procedures and paperwork at the police station, the arrested suspect was formally produced before the Manikganj District Court. Judicial authorities have since placed him under court jurisdiction as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault. Local community members have voiced serious concern over the incident, demanding a fair and thorough judicial process to ensure justice for the young victim.
