The Information Adviser of the Interim Government, Mr Mahfuz Alam, has made edits to a segment of one of his recent Facebook posts.
At 2:51 AM on Monday, 29 July, Mr Alam posted comments addressing corruption and alleged conspiracies. However, within approximately an hour and a half, he edited the post—removing certain parts while adding new remarks.
Original Post Content (2:51 AM)
In his initial post, Mr Alam wrote:
“These days, since many people are being exposed, they have turned against me. A few key figures from a newly formed political party are involved… In a particular circle, almost everyone is corrupt, but one individual is refusing to take money—how can that be tolerated?”
He also referenced an attempt to influence a government tender process, stating that he was offered a percentage from a BTV tender, which he rejected. According to Mr Alam, the conversation related to that proposal was secretly recorded by an individual and later sent to a journalist, but the matter was never made public.
He concluded the original post with:
“Even my worst enemies haven’t accused me of corruption over the past 12 months. Responsibility towards the state is a sacred trust.”
Edited Post Content (4:28 AM)
In the revised post, the corruption references were removed. The updated version read:
“These days, since many people are being exposed, they have turned against me. Several influential figures from different parties are involved. Every conspiracy will come to light.”
Additionally, he commented:
“There’s unnecessary uproar over a few sentences, so I’ve edited it… It’s not just one, several political heavyweights are acting against me/us.”
Post Shared from Brother’s Account
The revised post was shared alongside a Facebook status originally posted by Mr Alam’s brother, Mahbub Alam, titled “Reply to False Allegations!!”
In his post, Mahbub Alam claimed that baseless rumours regarding financial irregularities were being spread based on a single Facebook status. He included his account details to demonstrate transparency and clarified that he has never engaged in lobbying activities—nor has Mahfuz Alam ever permitted such conduct.
Mahbub also stated that all family businesses are legally registered and publicly documented. In the final part of his message, he issued a 24-hour ultimatum to an individual named Boni Amin, demanding a public apology and warning of possible legal action if necessary.
