Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to tie the knot with Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Priya Saroj on 4 December. The wedding ceremony will take place at a hotel in Lucknow, bringing a high-profile close to their four-year courtship.
The couple completed their engagement on 8 June last year, and preparations for the upcoming nuptials are already well under way. The event is expected to draw family members, close relatives, and several prominent figures from both the sporting and political arenas, including many of Rinku’s international teammates.
Rinku publicly revealed the story behind their romance during an interview last December. Their connection began during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Indian Premier League (IPL) was staged in Mumbai. While scrolling through social media, the cricketer stumbled upon a picture of Priya posted on a local fan page during a village election campaign. Intrigued, he hesitated to initiate contact until Priya liked a few of his own social media posts, prompting him to send the first message.
Regular exchanges quickly followed, with conversations taking place even on match days. Rinku noted that his feelings deepened significantly around 2022, laying the foundation for their long-term relationship.
Born on 23 November 1998, Priya Saroj is a qualified lawyer and an active politician representing the Samajwadi Party. She secured a seat in the Lok Sabha during the 2024 Indian general elections, representing the Machhlishahr constituency in Uttar Pradesh, a seat reserved for the Scheduled Castes community.
Rinku, born on 12 October 1997 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, rose to prominence through consistent, match-winning performances in the IPL. His success in domestic franchise cricket paved his way into the national squad, where he has since become a key middle-order finisher. To date, he has represented India in 48 Twenty20 Internationals and two One-Day Internationals, establishing himself as a reliable figure in the national set-up.
