Acting on targeted intelligence gathered during ongoing surveillance in the region, the raid commenced at approximately 1:40 pm. The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Humayun Kabir Khondakar, Deputy Director of the DNC Manikganj District Office, and executed by an enforcement team led by Sub-Inspector Md Jamal Hossain.

Upon arriving at the designated address in Ward No. 2 of Banggra village, DNC personnel surrounded the residential premises to prevent any attempt at escape. A meticulous search of the living quarters led to the discovery of 400 psychotropic Yaba pills hidden inside the suspect’s room. Officers immediately seized the contraband materials in the presence of local witnesses and took the suspect into custody.

The arrested individual has been identified as 28-year-old Zakir Hossain Sohel, son of Mozaffar Hossain, a permanent resident of the village. According to reports from neighbours and local residents, Sohel had been actively running an illegal drug distribution ring across Betila-Mitra Union and neighbouring areas for a considerable period. His illicit trade had raised growing alarm among local families, who accused him of peddling addictive substances directly to young people in the community.

Following the seizure and arrest, the DNC officers prepared a formal inventory of the confiscated tablets. A regular criminal case was subsequently registered against Sohel at Manikganj Sadar Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act.

Local civil society members welcomed the law enforcement action, urging authorities to sustain their strict stance against illegal drug networks across the district. Officials at the DNC Manikganj office confirmed that special drives, routine surveillance, and intelligence-led raids will continue in full force to curb the spread of narcotics and dismantle supply channels throughout Manikganj Sadar and its surrounding sub-districts.
