Severe chaos and a violent clash broke out between two factions of Jatiyatabadi Chhatradal during an important exchange-of-views meeting organized by the Kushtia district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), right in the presence of State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, Anindya Islam Amit. The altercation began abruptly over establishing dominance and seating arrangements inside the venue, rapidly escalating into physical fighting and violent confrontation between the two groups. The occurrence of such an unpleasant incident before high-ranking party leaders and a government state minister caused intense tension and disorder throughout the area.
According to eyewitnesses and sources present at the event, the Kushtia district BNP had organized this meeting to unite local leaders and activists while strengthening organizational discipline. State Minister Anindya Islam Amit was present on stage as a chief or special guest. During the proceedings, a heated argument suddenly erupted among local Chhatradal activists over sitting arrangements near the stage and along one side of the hall. The verbal spat quickly escalated into widespread anger, leading to chases, counter-chases, and direct physical violence.
Senior leaders of the BNP and its associate organizations present at the venue were taken aback by the sudden outbreak. Despite repeated appeals over the microphone and direct interventions by senior leaders asking everyone to remain calm, controlling the violent factions proved difficult. Several chairs were broken during the clash, leaving a few activists injured. As the situation threatened to spiral completely out of control, prompt intervention by senior figures and party security personnel managed to temporarily bring the turmoil under control.
Political analysts and a section of local leaders noted that internal feuds and factional rivalries have long persisted within the Kushtia district Chhatradal. The tension that had been brewing over committee posts, regional dominance, and showing off presence on stage culminated in this public violent clash in front of the state minister. Such chaotic and violent behavior by party activists before VIP guests has severely compromised the party’s overall image and organizational discipline.
Senior party leadership expressed strong indignation over the incident. Leaders of the district BNP stated that such misbehavior and disruption at an official party event will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The entire matter is being carefully reviewed. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for instigating the violence and determining who ordered the disruption in the presence of a high-profile figure like the state minister. Senior leaders warned that strict organizational and disciplinary action will soon be taken against those involved.
