Colleges have been given a firm deadline to verify and confirm applications submitted under the Special Quota (SQ) category during the second phase of admission to Class XI for the 2026–27 academic year.
According to a directive issued by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, the relevant colleges must complete the confirmation or approval of SQ applicants by 9pm on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
The instruction concerns students who applied online for admission under the Special Quota during the second phase of the Class XI admission process. The colleges concerned have been asked to verify the applications and complete the required approval process within the specified timeframe.
A letter containing the directive was sent to principals and heads of the relevant higher secondary-level educational institutions on Wednesday, 30 September. The notice sets out the procedure colleges must follow to complete the confirmation process for students who applied under the SQ category.
Under the instruction, college authorities must log in to the admission system using the institution’s EIIN number and password. After entering the institutional login panel, they are required to complete the confirmation or approval of the applications submitted under the Special Quota.
The authorities have also referred institutions to the User Guide for Institution, which provides guidance on completing the relevant process through the admission system. Colleges have been advised to follow the prescribed procedure carefully while checking and confirming the applications.
The deadline is particularly significant for students whose applications have been submitted under the SQ category. While the initial application is made online by the student, the subsequent confirmation by the relevant educational institution forms part of the admission process. Any delay at the institutional stage could create complications for applicants as the admission process moves forward.
The committee has made its position clear regarding institutions that fail to complete the process on time. If a college does not confirm or approve the SQ applications within the stipulated deadline, the board authorities will not accept responsibility for any complications that may arise later as a result.
The directive comes as the 2026–27 Class XI admission process continues through its various online stages. The system requires applicants and educational institutions to complete different parts of the process within specified deadlines, making timely action essential for those involved.
For colleges with students who applied under the Special Quota in the second phase, the immediate task is therefore to review the relevant applications and complete the institutional confirmation process before 9pm on 1 October.
Students and their guardians who have applied under the SQ category may also wish to remain in contact with their respective colleges to ensure that the institutional verification stage has been completed. However, the responsibility for carrying out the confirmation through the institutional login rests with the concerned college authorities.
The latest instruction is intended to ensure that applications submitted under the special quota are processed within the scheduled admission timeline and that the second-phase admission procedure can proceed without avoidable administrative complications.
