Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of woman whose body was recovered from a residence in the capital’s East Nakhalpara area on Thursday afternoon. The deceased was found inside building number 300/B in East Nakhalpara, after which law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene to secure the premises and collect preliminary evidence.
Following the initial recovery, the body was sent to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death. To assist with the ongoing inquiries, the police took the victim’s husband, identified as Arif, along with their two school-going sons, into custody at the Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station for questioning.
Speaking to reporters, police officials stated that standard investigative procedures are underway to determine whether any foul play was involved. Relatives of the deceased, including her mother-in-law and brother-in-law, disclosed that the family originally hails from the Dinajpur district in northern Bangladesh. They also mentioned that the woman had been suffering from various prolonged health issues prior to her death, raising questions about whether her passing was due to natural medical complications or other underlying circumstances.
The detention of the victim’s immediate family members, including her underage children, underscores the rigorous approach taken by local authorities to gather detailed statements from those closest to the deceased during the critical initial hours of the inquiry. Senior officers from the Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station reaffirmed that no definitive conclusions regarding the nature of the death can be drawn until the formal autopsy findings are handed over by the medical examiners. Further police action will depend strictly on the conclusions reached in the forensic report.
