Brutal Attack in Faridpur Leaves Young Man Blinded and Crippled

A 35-year-old man was left fighting for his life in Faridpur Sadar Upazila after unidentified assailants broke his limbs and gouged out both his eyes in a horrific act of violence. The victim, identified as Delowar Hossain, son of Anwar Hossain from Madhabpur village, was discovered abandoned in a paddy field near the Baitkumari wetland in Krishnanagar Union on Monday morning (2 November). He was subsequently rescued in a critical condition and rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for urgent medical intervention.

According to local sources and preliminary investigation details, the abduction took place late on Sunday night when a group of miscreants forcibly seized Delowar and dragged him to a secluded area near the Baitkumari marshland. The attackers bound his hands and feet before subjecting him to prolonged physical torture. Using blunt objects and sharp implements, the perpetrators systematically broke his arms and legs. In an extraordinary display of cruelty, they tore out both of his eyes before abandoning his battered body in the fields, assuming he had succumbed to his injuries.

The horrific crime came to light early on Monday morning when local farmers heading towards their agricultural plots noticed a motionless, blood-soaked body lying amidst the crops. Recognising the victim, they immediately alerted Delowar’s family, the local Union Parishad representatives, and the regional police station.

Shariful Islam, a member of the Krishnanagar Union Parishad, stated that local residents acted swiftly upon discovering the unconscious man. Family members, alongside villagers, managed to transport Delowar to the hospital, where medical staff are currently attempting to stabilise his precarious condition.

Addressing the incident, Badsha Miah, Chairman of Krishnanagar Union Parishad, confirmed that the family had already moved the victim to the hospital before his arrival at the scene. He noted that while local rumours suggested Delowar had previous allegations of theft against him, the identities of the attackers and the precise motive behind such extreme violence remain unknown. Law enforcement authorities have commenced an investigation into the incident, examining potential personal enmities and local disputes to apprehend those responsible.
